How to Ship with UPS

Step 1: Prepare Your Package

Before shipping, make sure your items are properly packaged. UPS offers packaging supplies and guidelines, but here are a few tips:

  • Use sturdy boxes and cushioning materials like bubble wrap or packing peanuts.
  • Seal the box securely with packing tape to prevent any items from falling out during transit.
  • Ensure the contents are packed tightly to avoid shifting during transport.

Step 2: Create a Shipment

You can create a shipment either online, using the UPS mobile app, or in person at a UPS Store.

Option 1: Ship Online via UPS Website
  1. Visit the UPS Website: Go to www.ups.com.
  2. Log in or Create an Account: You’ll need a UPS account to start creating your shipment.
  3. Go to “Shipping”: Click the “Shipping” tab and then select “Create a Shipment.”
  4. Enter Shipment Details:
    • Sender and Recipient Information: Fill in both your address and the recipient’s address.
    • Package Information: Enter the weight, dimensions, and contents of your package.
    • Service Selection: Choose a shipping service (e.g., Ground, Next Day Air, Worldwide Express, etc.) based on your speed and budget.
  5. Add Extra Services (if needed): You can select additional services, like insurance or delivery confirmation.
  6. Review & Pay: Review all the details, then make payment for the shipment.
  7. Print the Shipping Label: After payment, UPS will generate a shipping label that you can print.
Option 2: Ship via the UPS Mobile App
  • Download the UPS mobile app on your smartphone.
  • Follow similar steps to create a shipment, including entering package details and selecting a shipping method.
  • You can also track shipments and schedule a pickup directly from the app.
Option 3: Ship at a UPS Store
  • Visit a UPS Store or an authorized shipping center near you.
  • Provide the package to the UPS representative, who will help you select the right shipping service, print labels, and send your package.

Step 3: Drop Off or Schedule a Pickup

After creating the shipment and printing the label:

  • Drop Off: Take the package to a UPS drop-off location or UPS Store.
  • Schedule a Pickup: You can schedule a pickup online through your UPS account or by contacting UPS customer service. This service is available for an additional fee.

Step 4: Track Your Shipment

Once your package is shipped, you can track it using the tracking number provided by UPS. Use the UPS website, mobile app, or call customer service for real-time updates on your shipment’s status.

Additional Tips:

  • Shipping Costs: Shipping costs vary depending on package weight, size, service type, and destination. Use the UPS Shipping Calculator on the website to get an estimate of your shipping fees before creating your shipment.
  • Insurance: If you’re shipping valuable items, consider purchasing shipping insurance to protect your package in case of loss or damage.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to ship your package with UPS efficiently. If you need further assistance or have any specific questions, feel free to reach out!
